(Stuck at) Home for the Holidays
I'm not usually one for super sweet dessert drinks, but since the holidays are looking a little different for us this year, I needed a comfort cocktail.
The creaminess of the milk, luscious chocolate and hazelnut notes, and the warmth from the cinnamon and bourbon make this cozy beverage perfect for the season. Don't let the sweetness of this drink fool you, it packs a boozy punch. I think it makes for a great post-dinner dessert replacement because, after finishing one, I'm ready for a long winter's nap.
For this recipe I used Elijah Craig Small Batch. Since there's 2 ounces of bourbon in this drink, plus some added kick from the Frangelico, I wanted to back down the proof a bit from the usual 100 that I prefer in cocktails. You can use any bourbon you have on hand, but I would recommend something around 90 proof and without too much spice. Of course, I topped it with my Bourbon Cream Infused Whipped Cream, but store-bought whipped cream will do just fine.

Makes 1 drink
Ingredients
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 C. milk (or oat milk)
- 1 oz. Frangelico
- 2 oz. bourbon
- 2-3 drops chocolate bitters
- Bourbon Cream Infused Whipped Cream (optional)
- Dash of cinnamon (optional)
Instructions
1 Add the milk to a saucepan and place on medium-low heat. Add the cinnamon stick and allow to simmer for 5-7 minutes. Whisk constantly to avoid burning. Once the milk is heated and infused with the cinnamon, remove from the heat and take out the cinnamon stick.
2 Add the Frangelico, bourbon, and chocolate bitters to a mug. Top with the cinnamon-infused milk and stir.
3 Top the mug with whipped cream and sprinkle with cinnamon. Enjoy while it's hot!
